HALF DAY SIEM REAP TEMPLE TOUR
08.00-12.00 / 13.00-17.00
Transfer by private vehicle with your guide to visit the ancient walled city of Angkor Thom, the former capital of the great Khmer empire. Enter through the South Gate, a massive four-faced edifice which is guarded by a line of gods and demons carved from stone.
Inside the city walls, you come face-to-face with the Bayon, an imposing 12th century structure commissioned by one the empire's most revered rulers, King Jayavarman VII. Continue to Baphuon, a sanctuary dedicated to Brahmanism, and Phimeanakas Temple, a place of worship for kings. Then visit the Terrace of the Elephants, an impressive two-and-a-half-meter (eight-foot) tall wall used as a ceremonial stage, and the Terrace of the Leper King with its amazingly well detailed bas reliefs.
Continue to Ta Prohm, a beautiful temple that appears to have been claimed by nature thanks to the strangler figs and kapok trees that have entwined themselves around the crumbling stone ruins
Please note: Please dress appropriately when visiting temples and religious sites. Shoulders and knees should be covered (no short skirts or short trousers).
